With the introduction of the highly efficient MWM TCG 4170 V20 gas engine, Caterpillar Energy Solutions expands its gas engine portfolio. The TCG 4170 V20 offers an electrical efficiency of up to 46 percent as well as high flexibility and robustness in demanding environments.
The MWM TCG 4170 V20 as a High Performer
Operators of combined heat and power (CHP) plants and cogeneration plants can achieve their energy goals even faster and more cost-efficiently with the MWM TCG 4170 V20 R from Caterpillar Energy Solutions. Thanks to its high energy efficiency and fuel flexibility, the engine set is ideal for grid-parallel or island-mode operation.
The genset with an electrical power range of 2,500 kW (up to 2,536 kW with natural gas) and an electrical efficiency of up to 46 percent sets new standards in terms of electrical efficiency. The overall efficiency of the TCG 4170 V20 is 89.1 percent or even up to 89.6 percent when the engine coolant temperature is 88 °C. The generator set is available as 50-Hz variant (60-Hz variant will be available from 2026).
The MWM TCG 4170 V20 R offers excellent electrical efficiency of up to 46 percent. Thanks to its high robustness and flexibility, the genset is suitable for distributed energy generation in numerous fields of application and segments.
