On May 11, 2019, more than 10,000 runners participated in the Rhine-Neckar Twilight Marathon, which is well-known in the region. The event was supported by Caterpillar Energy Solutions as one of the main sponsors. The course of 42.195 km (26.22 mi) took the runners past approximately 100,000 enthusiastic spectators from Mannheim to Ludwigshafen and back.

Twenty employees of Caterpillar Energy Solutions also participated in various races, including the “engelhorn sports half marathon” and the 10-km race called “Mannemer 10er”. Three of the colleagues succeeded in finishing the “Mannemer 10er” in under 50 minutes. Despite the cool and windy weather, all participants of Caterpillar Energy Solutions—both first-timers and those who broke their personal record—thoroughly enjoyed the race. Prior to the event, Managing Director Peter Körner said: “In our company, we put a lot of emphasis on the subject of occupational health management. Under the heading ‘Fit@work’ we conduct numerous campaigns to promote our employees’ health and well-being.” Thus, the tradition-rich Mannheim-based company also encourages its employees to participate in the campaign “Cycle to work” under the motto “Cycling for a better urban climate”—it’s good for their health and for the environment!

With its product brands MWM and Cat, Caterpillar Energy Solutions is one of Mannheim’s oldest industrial companies and employers. The company supports the Rhine-Neckar region with various projects and ideas. In 2014, for example, Caterpillar Energy Solutions received the Rhine-Neckar Marketing Prize in the “Large Enterprises” category in recognition of its market strategy for the Modular Power Plant (MPP) product. Thanks to its pre-manufactured components, the custom-developed power plant can easily be set up on site without any elaborate construction measures. In this way, distributed power and heat supply can easily be implemented even in structurally week regions. For a number of years, Caterpillar Energy Solutions has also supported the Pediatric Oncology Unit of the University Medical Center Mannheim (UMM) with generous donations.

At its headquarters in Mannheim and nine other locations, Caterpillar Energy Solutions works with international customers. In the course of the expansion of the Mannheim site into a global gas center of excellence, the attractive employer’s headcount grew to about 1,400. With its MWM brand, the Caterpillar Energy Solutions has demonstrated its pioneer spirit and advanced competencies in the development and production of innovative gas engines and distributed energy generation solutions for almost 150 years.
