Aid in the Face of Devastating Australian Bushfires: Caterpillar Foundation Donates US $ 250,000 to Australian Red Cross
Mannheim, January 30, 2020
To assist the relief forces in their battle against the widespread bushfires in Australia, the Caterpillar Foundation is making a donation of US $ 250,000 as an emergency aid to the Australian Red Cross.
Since September 2019, many people and animals have lost their lives in the devastating bushfires, and more than 12 million ha of land have been destroyed.
"Our Hearts Go Out to the People in Australia"
The donation to the Red Cross supports the work of the Australian relief forces in combating the bushfires. In addition to the US $ 250,000, Caterpillar and regional Cat dealers provide assistance by making equipment available.
"Our hearts go out to the people of Australia as they endure this devastating crisis", says Jim Umpleby, CEO of Caterpillar Inc. "The longstanding partnership between the Foundation and the Red Cross has demonstrated the organization's exceptional ability to swiftly put relief donations to work in the areas they're needed most."
In addition to this donation, the Caterpillar Foundation is also a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program. This program provides a funding base that allows the Red Cross to respond immediately to the needs of individuals and families impacted by disasters.
