For several years now, Caterpillar Energy Solutions has been supporting the University Medical Center Mannheim (UMM) with yearly donations. At the end of 2024, Peter Körner, Director of Caterpillar Energy Solutions, and Aljoscha Kertesz, Manager Communications, handed over a donation check in the amount of €15,000 to the university hospital. The hospital will use the money for a research project on immunotherapy for tumors of the central nervous system.

Research Project for Improved Treatment of Pediatric Cancer

“In recent years, immunotherapies have made great progress in the treatment of childhood cancer”, explains Prof. Dr. Michael Karremann, Senior Physician of the Pediatric Clinic. “However, since immune cells only enter the central nervous system to a very limited extent, the effect of this therapy option has been rather limited so far, especially for tumors or metastases in the brain. We want to improve this situation in order to be able to help children with cancer even more effectively in the future.”

In late December, the symbolic donation check of Caterpillar Energy Solutions was handed over to Prof. Dr. Karremann and PD Dr. Matthias Dürken, Acting Head of the Pediatric Clinic, at the Pediatric Oncology unit of the UMM. “We are pleased to contribute to this important research project with our donation”, says Körner.
